Brico

Brico is a new 'lego' like product that makes building temporary or permanent structures easier and more time efficient. It is available in a number of formats and with varying finishes. The units are available for either purchase or we offer a rental option.

Design

Brico has a positive mechanical interlock between components. Vertical dowel holes align to allow high tensile steel re-bars to pass down the entire wall and be grouted into place. Components are also available with reinforcing cast into rear and/or end faces, drainage holes or built in gate hinges.

  • The product is constructed entirely from behind the face - no temporary works are required.
  • Designed to comply with the requirements of: BS 8002, BS 8004 & BS 8006
  • A built-in anchor system also allows for safe handling and easy installation.
  • Can be used with a variety of fill materials
  • Can generate substantial savings on import of granular fill and muck-away of cohesive arisings

The Brico block walls at Wakefield demonstrated a saving of 11% on direct cost. An additional financial benefit was also derived through the reduced prelim cost as a result of the more efficient construction methods.

Application

Reinforced Earth Structures

Camel's Brico product can be used to construct a vertical wall in almost any situation up to 6m high, using a reinforced earth system. It is an economic solution for the creation of additional development space and is easily constructed and can be designed to use site-won fill materials.

One major advantage is you can lay up to 60m2 per day.

A variety of fascia finishes are available, and a simple tie system can be incorporated to allow the Brico wall to be faced with masonry or natural stone work.

Where to use

  • Forming steep face cuttings and embankments for highway widening schemes
  • Maximising plateau space in commercial developments
  • Slopes for railway projects

Gravity Wall Structures

Camel's Brico system is a stand-alone wall structure that comprises dry-laid, interlocking concrete blocks that negates the need for using soil reinforcement for smaller applications.

A variety of fascia finishes are available, and a simple tie system can be incorporated to allow the Brico wall to be faced with masonry or natural stone work.

Where to use

  • Aggregate storage bays
  • Waste recycling
  • Perimeter security walls
  • Salt bays
  • Bridge abutments
  • Flood defence works
  • River lining
  • Domestic and industrial landscaping projects

Options

Each unit is available with rebar inserted on the back face and/or vertical dowel holes (40mm) cast from top to bottom. These can be used to reinforce more permanent structures with high tensile reinforcing which would be grouted into place.

A variety of fascia finishes are available, and a simple tie system can be incorporated to allow the Brico wall to be faced with masonry or natural stone work.

Environment Agency Case Study

Case Study - Ings Beck, Wakefield

Due to recent flooding to the Wakefield area of Yorkshire, the Environment Agency has implemented a strategic programme of works to install new defences to reduce the risk of flooding to the City. Many areas of work included working within the existing channels to replace old or damaged structures.
